Albert Peterson was a well-known mine contractor who arrived in Stewart, at the age of 23, in 1910.
His specialty was driving tunnels by single-jack, double-jack or machine drills. At times, like most miners, he would unwind, celebrating the completion of a contract with his men.
Albert reached the end of his long shift as hard rock miner on January 17, 1940, having followed his dangerous profession in the Stewart district for 30 years.
